Welcome to Year 6
Year 6 is a big step-up for the children as the Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum for Year 6 continues. There will be lots of interesting new areas of learning to explore in addition to really pushing on with developing knowledge, understanding and skills in English and Maths. With your support I’m really positive about the progress every child in the class will make over this term and beyond.
We ask that children do not come to school before 8.30 a.m. as there is no supervision in the playground. On arrival they should wait in the courtyard for doors to open. We encourage punctuality and aim to arrive ready to learn.
We believe that every child has the right to learn. All children will follow the Fieldhead Four Academy Rules.
1.We will listen to the adults who teach and look after us.
At school we have a zero tolerance approach to bullying and unacceptable behaviour. Attendance and participation on trips and when representing the school, e.g. sports tournaments, is dependent on good behaviour in school.
Homework will be set on Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday (English and Spelling –Learning Challenge and Maths). We expect children to spend half an hour a day on homework and reading. Homework will always be closely linked to work in school.
Some homework will now be set online — please let me know if you do not have access to the internet
All the children have made a great start to their learning and look fantastic in their school uniform. Thank you for getting them to the starting line in such good shape. At the moment the children are being supported by staff in the school who know them really well. Please feel free to talk to me about their learning or other matters after school any day. If you would like to see me before school please make an appointment through the school office.
